PartTwo: Ceremony

June 8,1991. We had an Unitarian Minister and she did a wonderful job. Wegot to pick from her book in order to create our wedding vows, and weexchanged our rings. We drank red wine from a large goblet and made apromise to share our hardships and our sweetness in life. It wasnice.

June 9,2001. Surrounded by trees and friends we rode in on horses and ourdear friend Steph performed the ceremony. She had been studying manyDruid and Pagan ceremonies and seemed the logical choice. She seemedto come out of the woodwork just in time for this. She called us outof the blue (just because) just as we were planning the whole thing. We hadn't talked with her in ten years... Hmmm. Ten years.

The onlyshame was that the horses had to be led in by their owners. Martinand I could have done so ourselves but the insurance policy on theproperty and on the horses stated that we couldn't. So Duma was ledby JP and Rocky was lead by Melissa. They both dressed up and we werevery lucky to have them.

Martingave me a necklace and I gave him a broach. We shared wine from thesame goblet and kissed much like the first wedding. That cup also hasa story behind it. There was a wonderful lady in my life back in highschool and just after. Her name was Joanne Wilson. She was unable toattend the first wedding so she gave us that goblet as a gift. Weused it in the first wedding so that we could think of her and thather presence would not be missed as much. When we came back from ourhoneymoon she had disappeared. She had run off to start a new lifeand no one has heard from her since. Martin and I do wonder where sheis and hope to find her one day. Honey. Your cup was once again partof a happy event. You were there in heart if not in body.

Ourfriend Antoinette put together a group of Flautists for us. It waswonderful as it not only created atmosphere as people arrived butthey also learned how to play Bonny Portmore for our arrival.<sigh>

Veryshortly after the ceremony (and pics) it did rain but not by much. Myhair was the most affected but it more or less stayed in place justfine. Ani (the wonderful woman who did our hair and make-up, and along time friend) kept saying "Just don't get your hair wet." overand over. Hmm.. Makes me wonder what she put in our hair. Maybe it'sbest that I don't know.

A numberof people were telling us that a shower is a blessing. As it didn'taffect the dinner we plan on taking it as such.
